The Sioux County Warriors continued their dominating speech run at the D2-6 District
Meet March 17 in Sidney.
Following their ninth consecutive Panhandle Conference title, the Warriors claimed the
district championship for the third year in a row. Four Warriors will compete at the State
Speech Meet March 28 in Kearney in six events.
Senior Jack Hunter came home with a District Championship in poetry, and Sioux
County fielded two individual runners-up in three categories. Victoria Turbiville was a
two-time runner-up, taking silver in both serious prose and program of oral
interpretation. Sierra Eastman also qualified in two events, taking second in persuasive
speaking and third in extemporaneous. Zoey Sanderson finished third in program of oral
interpretation to qualify.
Seth Dunn and Logen Oldaker picked up medals for Sioux County in entertainment,
taking fifth and sixth places. Taylen Lambert and Morgan Randall also placed the
Warriors fifth and sixth in informative speaking. Sanderson collected two more medals
with a fourth-place medal in extemporaneous and sixth place in poetry. Turbiville was
fourth in humorous prose, and Kaydence Potter rounded out the results with a fourth-
place finish in persuasive speaking.
The meet also served as the B6 district, and overall Sioux County finished third with 202
points behind Gering with 334 and Ogallala with 246.
Sioux County claimed the D2-6 District Speech title for the third consecutive year
