The Sioux County Warriors started off hot in two games last week but ultimately fell to
Hemingford and Creek Valley.
Hemingford defeated the Warriors 63-37 after a close first quarter Jan. 18. Sioux County trailed
15-16 after one period but couldn’t pace the Bobcats in the second quarter. Hemingford led 32-
21 going into the break. Sioux County worked to trim the deficit with a 14-13 scoring run in the
third but went cold again in the final minutes, allowing an 18-2 run by the Bobcats for the win.
Josh Perez led the Warriors with 16, while Logan Monroe contributed 12. Jack Hunter added
four, Preston Kreman three and Gilberto Hernandez two.
On Jan. 14, Sioux County was up 14-10 over Creek Valley before a scoring drought by the
Warriors boosted their opponents to a 21-16 lead. Creek Valley came out after the break and
streaked to a 17-7 finish in the period. Sioux County fought back and won the fourth quarter 15-
9, but it wasn’t enough to recover, and Creek Valley took the 47-38 victory.
Monro led the Warriors with 12 points, and Hunter added 11. Perez dropped six points, while
Kreman had five and Hernandez had two.
