The Sioux County Warriors went on a two-game win streak after defeating Edgemont and

Banner County the week of Jan. 6.

The Edgemont Moguls led the Warriors by three points after one quarter Jan. 11, but Sioux

County held its opponents to single digits the rest of the game for a 51-40 victory. Trailing 13-16

after the first quarter, the Warriors netted 14 and held the Moguls to six for a 27-22 lead at half-

time. A pair of 12-9 runs after the break helped the Warriors cruise to the win.

Three Sioux County players scored in double digits, led by Jack Hunter with 14. Hunter scored

nine of his points in the opening quarter and went three-of-four from the free throw line in the

fourth . Logan Monroe added quarter points, with two field goals and a nine-of-10 showing from

the charity stripe. Josh Perez contributed 11, including a trey and two free throws. Gilberto

Hernandez and Preston Kreman added seven and six points respectively. Overall, the Warriors

were 16 of 19 at the free throw line to help secure the win.

Earlier in the week, Sioux County held on for a 42-38 win over Banner County Jan. 7. The

contest was tied at eight after one period, and Edgemont inched ahead 16-14 by half-time. The

Moguls extended their narrow lead with an 11-9 run in the third quarter, but pressure brought by

the Warriors turned things in their favor in the final eight minutes. Sioux County surged ahead

for the win with a 19-11 run behind six points each from Perez and Monroe in the quarter.

Monroe had another stellar showing from the free throw line, sinking 10 0f 11 and led the

Warriors with 12 points. Sioux County saw scoring from seven of its eight players. Perez

contributed 10, and was followed by Hernandez and Kreman with seven and six, Hunter with

four, Kaydy Potter with two and Taylen Lambert with one.
